I’ve been a single mom for over a year – it’s hard, but it’s made me hotter than ever

A young Australian woman has discovered the unexpected and positive side effect of being a single mother – instantly becoming more attractive.

Rachel Witteman, 26, is a real estate agent with a young son and has been single for 18 months.

After becoming a single mother, she revealed what happened to her life and quickly gained a fan base on TikTok.

“Does it get easier? No, though, so you get hotter? Yes, she said.

Witteman’s confession was applauded by other women who felt the exact same way after a breakup.

“That’s a fantastic prospect,” praised one.

“The brilliance is real,” confirmed another.

“Same,” confirmed a single mother.

“Absolutely getting hotter,” said someone else.

The 26-year-old ended her TikTok by emphasizing that “a win is a win.”

Witteman told news.com.au that she noticed she was looking better after her breakup, often receiving compliments from friends and strangers.

“People tell me you look better. You are shining! Maybe because you’ve lost a weight that was on your shoulders,” she said.

She said she’s not surprised people have noticed she’s looking better because she thinks how you feel can dictate how you look.

Witteman said that if you’re “not happy” it can lead to not looking your best, and the split has allowed her to rediscover her “self-identity”.

The estate agent said that since her split, she’s had a complete lifestyle change and started investing in herself again.

“I’m going to go to the gym, hang out with friends more, be more social and eat better,” she said.

She also feels like a better mother these days because she feels fulfilled within herself, which is affecting the rest of her life.

“You can’t pour from an empty cup,” she said.

Witteman’s assessment that she’s looking hotter now that she’s single isn’t completely off the cuff.

Interestingly, research shows that single women are much better than those in relationships when it comes to health.

In 2019, Paul Dolan, a professor of behavioral science at the London School of Economics, spoke at the Hay Festival and said that being single was a better choice for women from a health perspective.

“If you’re a man, maybe you should get married; if you are a woman, don’t be upset, – he advised.

Dolan’s advice stems from research he did for his book on happiness, Happy Ever After, which found that while men’s health improved after marriage, women’s health was more likely to decline.

Dolan said that when men marry, they typically “take fewer risks, make more money at work and live a little longer,” he argued.

Interestingly, women do not reap the same benefits from being married to a man.

“She, on the other hand, has to endure this and die sooner than if she never married,” he added.

“The healthiest and happiest subset of the population are women who never married or had children.”

Psychologist Carly Dober said women in general are more likely to thrive when they are single.

“We know that women tend to be generally fairer than men after a relationship breakup because women engage in help-seeking behaviors, such as seeking therapy and social support from friends and loved ones, and have less likely to engage in significant abuse to distract from pain compared to men,” she told news.com.au.

“Anecdotally, women also tend to find much more cognitive space and time to invest in themselves, which can mean moving, having fun, dressing however they want to dress, trying on a new hairstyle. new that the ex never wanted to try,” she. said.

“Living life to the fullest can mean they feel hotter than when they were in a relationship that wasn’t serving them.”
