Billy Joel is once again looking for a buyer for his sprawling Long Island estate, reselling the luxury property for $49.9 million after a five-year, multimillion-dollar renovation, The Post has learned.
Known as “MiddleSea,” the 26-acre Center Island site features four homes and offers more than 2,000 feet of private beach—a rare luxury along Long Island’s affluent Gold Coast.
Purchased by Joel in 2002, the property was expanded from its original 14 acres to include neighboring parcels and additional water parcels.
The estate is highlighted by its 20,000-square-foot main house, which features large living spaces, five bedrooms, eight bathrooms and breathtaking 180-degree views of Long Island Sound.
The home’s 30-foot cathedral ceilings, marble and hardwood floors, bathrooms, ballroom, wine cellar and bowling alley add to the overall grandeur, making it a standout among other properties in the area.
“Every detail, from the architecture to the landscaping, has been carefully curated to preserve the essence of the property while elevating it to meet today’s highest standards,” said Emmett Laffey, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Laffey International Realty, who is managing the sale. .
Joel had taken the home off the market last November to put the finishing touches on this major renovation, The Post reported at the time.
Earlier this year, Joel reiterated his love for Long Island.
“Just because I’m selling that house doesn’t mean I’m leaving Long Island. I still have a house on Long Island,” he said.
Joel, 75, then joked about why he’s unloading his longtime mansion, saying, “I’m just going to spend a little more time in Florida, like the old Jewish boys from Long Island do.”
The surrounding grounds of the property feature lush green lawns, meticulously landscaped gardens, two swimming pools, a gazebo and a covered outdoor dining area that is perfect for entertaining.
